3. Repetition of the material covered.

The teacher asks the children to tell us what they know about Filimonov patterns and toys. Then he says that today is in class we will decorate the plate Filimonov patterns, using the color scheme inherent in this murals.

The teacher distributes plasticine to all children, dishes, boards and stacks, pictures depicting Filimonovskaya dishes,pictures depicting Filimonov symbols, illustrated album "Folk applied art of the Tula region", sample dishes, which I made myself as a visual aid.

Children take plate and plasticine and start working (some on their own, and some with the help of a teacher). The children sculpt, and the teacher provides individual assistance and periodically monitors the other children.

5. Generalization and comparison.

After finishing modeling, children compare their work with the work of their peers.

The teacher asks the children to name the product they made. Asks to tell for what purpose they can use souvenirs dishes.

6. Summing up the work.

The teacher says that everyone is doing well today, everyone has aged and everyone has worked well, and all the works are ready for the exhibition.

Educator: Guys, let's watch a cartoon of how Luntik made plate as a keepsake.

The teacher thanks everyone and asks those on duty to help remove materials for classes and put the tables in their places.

Painting on glass with acrylic paint will give the kitchen originality and its own unique style. Beautifully painted glass interior items will make an incredible impression on your guests. They can be door glass, kitchen glass, mirror surfaces, countertops, vases, paintings and even windows. The painting process is difficult and painstaking, but anyone can create such beauty if they wish.

Decorative glass painting

Why should painting glass surfaces be done in the kitchen? The motifs that a novice artist depicts will lack rigor. They are great for.

If the artist displays every detail in the painting, a mosaic effect will appear. The image will visually consist of several color strokes. Painted paintings look especially gentle and elegant on glass objects.

Painting is carried out using silicate paints.

Paints are sold in specialized departments; they can be matte or transparent. Glass artists also use acrylic and stained glass paints. You first need to decide what exactly will be applied to the cabinet doors or set of dishes. If your imagination and abilities allow, draw a sketch yourself, be it with flowers or a landscape. If you have problems with your drawing technique, you can always download your favorite drawing, stencil or template and apply it.

Thickened paints can always be “revitalized” with a solvent.

Technique

  • Outline and fill specific areas.
  • Tiffany. Creates a three-dimensional image effect. Helps create a realistic image, the effect of being close or far away. This type of technique also covers small elements; the border of the picture is fragile.
  • Artistic stained glass for cabinets or.

First, prepare the surface that you plan to paint: wipe it with a dry cloth, degrease it with soapy water or alcohol, and wipe it dry. Next, you can begin to draw the outline of the picture. It is applied with a pencil or felt-tip pen. After the outline has completely dried, you can begin painting. Each shade is taken with a separate brush. The paint should not extend beyond the boundaries of the applied contour. Once the paint is applied, you just have to wait for it to dry.

The result is fixed with a transparent varnish, giving the design a glossy shine. Aerosol varnish will help create an antique effect.

Painting dishes

Hand-painted dishes are a pearl in the kitchen, a source of special pride. Once you try painting on dishes, you can acquire a favorite hobby for the rest of your life. Two types of paints are used for painting: stained glass and acrylic. Both types are used on glass and ceramics; then you can use the finished dishes as usual.

Some tips for beginners:

  • It is better to start creativity using transparent glassware or snow-white ceramics. Then nothing will distract attention from the drawing.
  • First you need to “draw your hand” on a sheet of paper. Practice the hardness of your strokes, drawing out thin and thick lines, and a smooth transition from thick to thin lines. It's great if you learn the spindle stroke - this is the main way to paint flowers.
  • The next step is to learn how to draw flowers. The main thing is to combine shades, to prevent one stroke from merging with others. Try making a transition from a dark shade to a light one.
  • To add transparency to your drawing, wet your brush with water.
  • Create a sketch of the future design, cut it out and apply it to the dishes. Professional tableware painters are so confident in their skills that they don’t use sketches, they paint straight away.
  • The dishes are first washed and degreased. The contour dries completely in a couple of hours.
  • Paint the picture with paints; it is better to use a horizontal plane for drying.

Painting on glass with acrylic master class. How to create an interesting decor for the kitchen from an ordinary jar:

The acrylic drawing also becomes stronger after 15 minutes of firing. Heat treatment is carried out in the oven at a temperature of 150 degrees. The dishes cool down on their own.

Painting plates

Gzhel

Gzhel is the name given to Russian folk art; it is recognizable in all countries of the world. This type of hand painting consists of simple lines, drops, nets, and blue flowers on a white canvas.

If you like the combination of snow-white and blue, then you can create a whole panel of plates with Gzhel painting.

Work process:

  • A ready-made pattern or drawing is taken. The round shape of the plate encourages you to create a sketch that fits organically into the circle.
  • A sketch is made on the plate with a marker.
  • The main drawing is drawn using a brush with a thin tip.
  • White paint paints accents on the blue drawing and makes transitions.
  • Before you start painting the next element, you need to wait until the previous one dries.

In order for the drawing to look like classic Gzhel, the lines must be smooth and wavy, but at the same time clear.

Master class on painting in Gzhel style. Paint a plate beautifully - it's easy:

Khokhloma

Painting plates under Khokhloma is an interesting and exciting activity. This type of Russian art originated in the 17th century in Nizhny Novgorod.

Khokhloma is the painting of wooden utensils in red, black and green on a yellow background.

Work process:

  • An ornament is taken from a book or the Internet and transferred to a plate.
  • The background is drawn, going around the leaves and berries.
  • The remaining elements are filled with the desired color.
  • The necessary touches are added: droplets, curls.
  • The plate is drying.

Other types of Russian painting on plates:

  • Petrikovskaya painting. Bright flowers, birds, and patterns are drawn on a black or gold background.
  • Gorodets painting. The subject for such a painting will be a Russian hut, its inhabitants and the attributes of the life of the people. It is done with free strokes with a white or black outline.

Folk painting includes the simplest patterns, flowers, berries, natural phenomena in everything that surrounds us in nature.

Contemporary paintings on glass and ceramics

  • Inscriptions. On the eve of the holiday, you can display congratulations or the name of the hero of the occasion on the dishes. The inscriptions in the form of lines from a letter look beautiful. There are many options here.
  • The simplest patterns: polka dots, stripes, squares, any geometric shapes look very original.
  • Vanguard. There are simply no boundaries in the options here: blots, random lines, lack of symmetry.
  • Ombre technique. The ombre effect is achieved by applying paint with a sponge. An ombre effect also appears if liquid streaks of paint are dispersed with a needle.

The combination of a child, a plate and paint gives an extraordinary result. Any child’s drawing will decorate the kitchen and will delight parents and guests.

Glass painting

Glass painting today is a separate and very common type of creativity. Hand-painted glasses look rich and beautiful. Read how to create a drawing on the kitchen wall with your own hands.

Materials required for painting glasses:

  • Stationery.
  • Special circuit.
  • Brushes.
  • Special paints for glass (there are acrylic coating paints, as well as transparent stained glass paints).
  • Cotton pads and cotton swabs, toothpick.
  • Degreaser.

Acrylic matte paints are not afraid of water. Stained glass windows are divided into fired and unfired. You should avoid water-based paints and use alcohol based paints.

Operating procedure:

  • Degrease glasses with acetone or detergent.
  • Place the sketch cut out of paper inside the glass and secure with tape.
  • Draw an outline on the surface of the glass with a solid line.
  • Allow the outline to dry. You will have to wait from half an hour to three hours.
  • Fill the outline with paints. If necessary, place the glass horizontally.
  • Remove excess paint with a cotton swab and remove air with a toothpick.
  • The glass must be dry. It will take from several hours to a day.
  • When using non-fired paints, the fixing is done with a colorless acrylic coating. For those who need to be burned – roast in the oven for 10 minutes. Place the glass in a cold oven and remove it after it has cooled completely. Make sure the glass can withstand high temperatures.

Themes for different occasions

  • Hand painted glasses- a wonderful gift for newlyweds. Doves, rings or two hearts are painted on them. All these symbols will fit perfectly into wedding paraphernalia.
  • You can surprise your guests on New Year's Eve too– glasses with painted Christmas decorations, fir trees and snowdrifts will lift everyone’s spirits. A great idea is to draw Father Frost on one glass and the Snow Maiden on the other.
  • You can decorate glasses for Halloween (pumpkins) in a similar way. Valentine's Day (hearts).

Door decor

Painting glass doors is now gaining popularity. This solution is used for sliding wardrobes, interior doors, and kitchen units. Stained glass painting produces extremely beautiful results.

How to create stained glass windows

  • Remove the door from its hinges.
  • Prepare a sketch of the future drawing.
  • Apply to the sketch with a pencil and then with a black felt-tip pen.
  • Take out the glass and degrease it.
  • Apply the contour with a special pencil-contour on the glass.
  • Do not break the outline, otherwise the paint will spread.
  • Allow time for the outline to dry.
  • Paint over the drawing.
  • Let the glass dry. This takes days.

How to make stained glass on glass, see here:

Painting ceramic tiles

Ceramic tiles are a great canvas on which to hone your craft. The tiles should be smooth, without patterns, and monochromatic. You can also use .

Operating procedure:

  • Degrease the tiles with detergent and a sponge.
  • Sand with sandpaper.
  • Apply epoxy primer and let it dry.
  • The paint is applied to the tiles in several layers. Subsequent layers are applied only after the previous ones have dried.
  • Adjust the drawing with cotton pads.
  • Apply waterproof varnish.

Glass painting in the kitchen, equipped with lighting, looks especially elegant.

Disadvantages include the complexity and labor-intensive nature of the process. But the pleasure of contemplating a unique piece of furniture created with your own hands is worth all the effort. You can read about ceramic tiles for backsplashes in this article.

In this master class we will decorate a porcelain plate using acrylic contours using the dot painting technique.

To create the “Bird of Happiness” plate using the dot painting technique, we will need:

A plate of any diameter (a porcelain plate with a diameter of 15 cm is used here);

Pencil on glass (it is better to draw a sketch with a white pencil, since it does not color the outline drawn on top of it. Here, for greater clarity, a red pencil was used for drawing on glass, porcelain, plastic and metal from the KOH-I-NOOR company);

Auxiliary materials: alcohol/vodka, cotton pads, cotton swabs, toothpicks/orange stick for manicure, napkins.

Step-by-step master class on dot painting of plates with acrylic contours

We prepare the plate for painting - wash it with soap/dishwashing liquid, wipe it dry, wipe it with a cotton pad moistened with alcohol/vodka.

We draw a sketch with a pencil on the glass - first a bird in the center of the plate, then flowers with leaves along the edges, filling the free space around the bird with them.

We outline the bird with a black pearl outline with dots: we try to make the dots the same size, adjusting the pressure on the tube, and also place them as close to each other as possible, but at the same time so that they do not merge.

While working, paint will accumulate on the tip of the plastic spout of the tube; it must be removed periodically by wiping the spout on a napkin.

In case of errors (for example, the points merged or the line of points turned out to be uneven), two options are possible:

1) wait until the outline dries, and then pick up the erroneous points with something sharp (for example, a toothpick or an orange manicure stick) and remove them without touching the neighboring points. After this (if necessary), use a slightly damp cotton swab to clean the area where the bad point was. This method is convenient for dense drawings, when there is already another drawing around the unsuccessful point, and there is a risk of blurring neighboring points.

2) if the failed point is located at the very edge of the drawing, and there are no other points near it, you can carefully erase the still wet point with a damp cotton swab, then wipe this place with a dry cotton swab and only then continue “dotting”.

Place a lemon-colored dot in the middle of each flower. The larger the flower, the larger the dot.

Let's outline the flower petals with dots: two flowers in metallic purple, one in metallic blue, one in bronze and one in royal purple.

Draw the leaves with a metallic green outline, leaving room for a rim along the edge of the plate. Let's draw the bird's beak with a bronze outline (for convenience, you can use a toothpick to “stretch” the paint with it), and the eye with light silver. When all the drawn dots are dry, carefully wipe the red pencil from the plate with slightly damp cotton swabs.

We outline the bird's beak with black pearl-colored dots. We add the same color to the eye, placing a “comma” on the previously drawn light silver circle. We “point” the rim of the plate with a lemon-colored outline. On the inside of the flower petals we draw a series of lemon-colored dots.

Fill the flowers with color by placing the following row of dots inside each petal:

In one purple flower there is lilac (hereinafter I will call this flower violet-lilac);
- in the second purple flower - purple pearlescent (hereinafter referred to as purple pearlescent);
- in a blue flower - blue;
- in a purple flower - dark red;
- in a bronze flower - golden.

The blue flower is ready.

“Sharpen” the upper part of the bird’s wings with a pink outline. We continue adding color to the flowers:

Purple: fill the main three petals in the center with lemon-colored dots; in the petals in the background behind the main petals we place a large dot of royal purple in the center, and at the edges of it a small dot of dark red color;
- violet-lilac: in the main three petals we put three large pink dots, in the others we put a purple dot and stretch it with a toothpick, as if drawing a tail for it;
- purple pearlescent: in the main three petals we put three large pink dots, in the others we put a dot with a purple pearlescent outline and stretch it with a toothpick, as if drawing a tail for it;
- bronze: fill the front three petals with small gold dots, and put one large gold dot in the three back petals.

The flowers are ready.

On the inside of the leaves we draw a row of lemon-colored dots. We will use green metallic to denote the center of the leaves: from the base to the end we will put a series of dots - from the largest ones, gradually reaching the smallest ones. In this case, it is necessary not just to draw a straight line of points, but to take into account the shape of the leaf, and in accordance with it, mark the central line.

We continue to fill the leaves with color: we put a row of turquoise dots, and fill the remaining space with rows of olive ones.

We draw 2 purple rows of dots along the abdomen of our bird: we put the largest ones in the center and gradually reduce the size of the dots towards the edges. We outline the feathers, tail and body with one row of light silver dots.

We cover the feathers on the bird's wings with purple dots, and the rest of the wings with a metallic purple outline.

Using dots of the same color (metallic violet) we fill the upper part of the bird’s body and tail. We paint the body with dots of different sizes: large, medium, and very small, in a chaotic order. The tail, on the contrary, is in even rows of dots of the same size.

We sharpen the abdomen with pink color, while randomly filling the entire space with dots of different sizes, like the torso.

The bird is ready.

We fill the free space of the plate between the bird and the flowers with rows of identical dots of golden contour gel.

The “Bird of Happiness” plate is ready!

The most beautiful things are obtained only by combining such components as inspiration and craftsmanship. Interior items decorated with dot painting are a striking example of this. Spectacular panels and original installations decorated with a dot pattern can become a real “highlight” of the kitchen interior, acting as a worthy addition to any design. And creating such decorative elements is a fascinating activity in itself. To master this easy-to-use, but quite original technique, we suggest taking two dot painting master classes for beginners as a basis.

The “point to point” technique was originally used in Rus' to create coinage. Later it became known as “drip”: paint was simply collected into straws and “dropped” onto the image. Today, dot painting, which incorporates the techniques of graphics, mosaics and stained glass, captivates more and more people with its ease of execution, grace and beauty of design.

This popular type of technique is also known as “point-to-point”

The principle of drawing the contours of an ornament lies in the very name of the technique: the design is created as a result of a combination of many points. Each of them can have a different color and size. Yes, and they can be applied in different colors.

Simplicity is the main advantage of dot painting

Anyone can create their own masterpiece, even if they have never held an artistic brush in their hands and have no idea how to draw correctly.

Spot painting is the easiest way to breathe new “life” into old souvenirs or accessories that have lost their appeal over time.

The application technique is determined by the shape of the item being decorated and the material from which it is made. Using this technique, you can decorate any surface: dishes and kitchen utensils, boxes and passport covers, laptop and phone cases.

Subtleties of choosing materials for painting

Using various types of paints in your work, you can decorate cutlery, tableware and any other interior items. For painting on dishes, it is better to choose paints that are characterized by increased moisture resistance and light sensitivity.

When choosing paints for decoration, consider the type of surface on which they will be applied. Otherwise, the pattern you create will not last long on the item. Painting can be done using the following types of paints:

  • Clay objects - paints for ceramics and glass. They are also called contour paints. They are sold in small tubes with an elongated spout.
  • Metal accessories – with enamel paints. Jewelry decorated with enamel is distinguished by durability, brightness and purity of colors.
  • Textile products - “fabric” acrylic. Contours for applying patterns to clothing are less resistant to abrasion.

Tip: when purchasing paints, test the tubes, paying attention to the thickness of the composition. To determine the consistency, press the tube: the paint should not come out too easily, forming a puddle, but it should not be too difficult to squeeze out.

Paints for painting are:

  • water-based - they are easily washed off with water;
  • on organic - removed from the surface only with a solvent such as white spirit.

To paint surfaces in contact with food, you should use special paints that must be fired at a temperature of 600-800°C. It is impossible to use such paints at home. For these purposes, craftswomen choose self-hardening paints. They harden without firing within 2 days. But such circuits are less resistant to detergents. Dishes painted with self-hardening acrylic paints require more careful handling.

There are two types of paints for painting dishes:

  • Overglaze - a mixture of pigments with fusible glass. They are applied to glazed dishes.
  • Underglaze is a mixture of pigments with glaze. They are used to decorate unglazed surfaces. A transparent overglaze layer, which makes the dishes shiny, is applied on top of the design.

Depending on what effect you plan to achieve, choose paints: those that form a matte or glossy finish, translucent stained glass and opaque opaque compositions. To create volumetric dots and “pearls” it is convenient to use 3D gels.

Key points when painting dishes

Point-to-point is a rather demanding type of creativity. After all, the presentability of the product depends on the perseverance of the craftsman and the accuracy of the work. This technique does not tolerate slowness and negligence.

Painting dishes, be it decorative plates or elegant vases, using dotting techniques includes a number of main stages:

  1. Preparing the base. The surface of the object is degreased with alcohol or nail polish remover.
  2. Applying the background. The background of the desired shade is applied to the prepared base with any paint: gouache, acrylic, automotive, stained glass. It is convenient to use acrylic primer for this purpose: when applied thickly, it gives a cloudy white tint.
  3. Marking the future drawing. It is better to come up with a design in advance, but even if you start improvising, you will certainly get a wonderful pattern.
  4. Creating a drawing. By alternately applying dots of the selected color and size, an ornament is created.

Master class: dot painting of a glass bottle

Spot painting can transform any objects, making them original decorative elements. Using this technique, you can easily turn an inconspicuous glass bottle into an amazing vessel or an unusual flower vase.

The main thing is to choose the texture and color palette of paints so that the accessory you create organically fits into the design of the room.

Selection of materials and tools

To make an original vessel you will need:

  • Glass bottle;
  • degreaser;
  • universal primer;
  • acrylic paints for painting on glass;
  • flat wide synthetic brush.
  • aerosol varnish to protect and secure the design.

When choosing a glass shade, keep in mind that dot painting looks most impressive on dark surfaces

To apply painting on dishes, it is convenient to use flat-shaped glass bottles. Background paint is applied to them only if you are not satisfied with the shade or transparency of the product.

Preparation of the glass base

The bottle is cleaned of labels and thoroughly degreased with an alcohol-containing liquid. Apply the primer composition with a wide brush, distributing it evenly over the surface.

You can take a pattern for decorating a bottle from the Internet, looking for ideas on thematic forums, or come up with it yourself. To make the pattern even and symmetrical, a strip of notebook sheet is fixed to the outer walls of the bottle using tape. The width of the stripe will determine the size of the pattern. In the proposed version, the pattern will be 13 cells wide.

Draw the center line of the pattern along the edge of the glued sheet.

Application of basic patterns

Start painting the bottle. Along the upper edge of the sheet, a strip of several points of the same size is applied with an acrylic outline. When working with a contour, the tube must be held vertically. Thanks to this, the dots are even and symmetrical.

Tip: blots and inaccuracies that often arise when applying dots can be easily eliminated using a sanitary stick soaked in alcohol.

The sheet cells will help you work out the distance between points and create an even line

To create smooth semicircles and curves of the pattern, use stencil templates. You can make them yourself by cutting out a blank of the required size from the same sheet of paper. To determine the size of the semicircles, you need to divide the circumference of the bottle by the number of elements.

Tip: do not forget to degrease the surface again from time to time using a cloth soaked in alcohol, since fingerprints will appear on the glass again during the painting process.

Applying the template to the glass, make an outline of small dots

Painting the framing contours

To obtain ornate openwork patterns, dots are applied in different sizes, alternating them with each other.

When drawing hearts and flowers, feel free to give free rein to your imagination

When creating new elements of the ornament, the stencil of the required size is again cut out and outlines of the future contour are made on it.

The points marked according to the template are “directed” with an acrylic outline

If small details of a pattern can be done “by eye,” then when painting large elements with acrylic paints, you cannot do without templates.

The bottle can be painted with paint until the entire surface is covered

Anyone who has ever tried to create lace patterns from a scattering of dots will confirm that the process of creating an ornament is simply mesmerizing.

Video: the process of painting on glass with acrylic paints

Decorating a plate using the point-to-point technique

The technique of painting plates is not much different from the process of decorating a bottle described above. First of all, thoroughly degrease the surface and transfer the sketch markings to a glass or ceramic surface.

Experienced craftswomen can draw without sketches directly on the plate, inventing patterns as they work. We still recommend that beginning needlewomen think through the artistic concept in advance, choosing ornaments and determining a color palette for themselves.

For the first works, it is most convenient to use transparent glass plates as a base.

A sheet with a sketch of the design motif is placed under the plate, and then the contours are drawn point by point

Before you start painting, practice creating outlines on paper from small and large dots, placing them at the same distance from each other.

It is better to start drawing contours from the center of the plate, gradually moving to its edges

To prevent the design from accidentally shifting during work, it is better to temporarily glue the cut out template to the back of the plate using adhesive tape or tape.

Draw according to the principle “from general to specific”: starting with drawing large contours and ending with elaboration of small details

When creating lines, maintain such a minimum distance between points so that they are clearly “readable”, but do not merge into a solid line

If drawing from tubes is difficult for you, draw dots with a toothpick or needle

The choice of shades and their alternation depends only on your imagination and the chosen pattern.

The paint applied to the plate must harden

Under natural conditions, the paint hardens within 24 hours. To speed up the process, dry the surface with a hairdryer and leave the decorated plate for 10-12 hours. After the paint has completely dried, all that remains is to fix the design with varnish.

Video master class: painting accessories using the “point to point” technique

Having mastered the technique of dot painting, you can easily bring your ideas to life, developing the makings of an artist. Decorative elements created with your own hands will become a source of pride for the kitchen owner and a worthy decoration of the interior.

DIY tableware painting. Techniques for decorating various items of porcelain (ceramic) tableware: plates, cups, teapots, which can be done at home. Professional painting requires more sophisticated equipment and materials.

A hand-painted mug or plate can be an excellent gift even for a very discerning recipient. The image needs to be made individual, preferably with a memorable inscription.

Materials for painting at home

Paints can be baked or without baking. The painting technique depends on what material to choose for painting. Therefore, the list of materials is, in fact, a list of the most common techniques.

It should also be noted that professional ceramic artists, as well as mass production, use more complex dyes. These paints are a type of glaze or enamel. They are diluted in water or oil. Afterwards, the oil and moisture are evaporated and baked in muffle furnaces at high temperatures (more than 400 degrees). This painting should cool down together with the stove. That is, sometimes the baking process takes about a day (the higher the baking temperature, the longer the oven and the item cool down). Household paints do not require such extreme temperatures, can be used by beginners, and these paints usually already have the right consistency.

Painting with a ceramic marker

  • Felt pens, pens, markers. Pens or felt-tip pens for ceramics are sold in craft stores or art stores. They come in different sizes and different colors. Depending on the size, they can give a thin line or a thick one.
  • Pigments without baking.
    • Acrylic.As a rule, acrylic paints are used. They are inexpensive and sold everywhere. As soon as the acrylic paint has dried, it is secured on top with a matte or glossy sealant. Acrylic paints come in spray, and such paints give interesting effects (ombre, silhouettes).
    • Solvent based paints. These are durable paints like oil paintings. They are difficult to remove from brushes. But they do not require baking. And they dry completely within 24 hours.
  • Baked pigments. Professional pigments are in powder form, which artists dilute with oil or water themselves. For home use, already diluted paints are sold; these are ordinary-looking paints like gouache. They should be applied to the porcelain. Then air dry and then bake in the oven for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
    • Enamel. After drying, such paints form a hard and glossy surface. The paints are durable but contain lead and should not be used on items that will contain food or drink.

Options for painting plates

    • Water based paints. The advantage of water-based paint is that you can easily adjust its transparency. By diluting with water you can achieve a light transparent layer, as well as achieve a watercolor effect (overlapping several transparent shades). Water-based paints are baked in an oven with a gradual increase in temperature and gradual cooling. Make sure the paint is completely dry before baking so there are no bubbles. This paint dries within 3 hours in air.
    • Glaze, luster. These are also professional paints. But there are also amateur glazes and chandeliers. Glaze is a paint that hardens at high temperatures, acquiring a glossy and durable surface. And chandeliers are transparent or translucent paint with a shiny or pearlescent effect. Also requires baking.
  • Clean ceramic tableware for painting. Artists call this “linen.” In stores for artists and handicrafts you can buy white, clean tableware for painting, as well as ceramic figurines of animals and people. As a rule, such “linen” are matte objects without glaze that require additional processing. You can't eat or drink from them yet.
  • Kits for painting dishes at home. These are kits for beginners or for children. They already contain a ready-made object for painting (a cup or a ceramic figurine), various sketches, a brush, paints and instructions for use. The convenience of the kits is that you can start painting right away, without unnecessary preparations. The disadvantage is that it is expensive; it is more profitable to buy paints separately from the dishes.
  • Glass paints. They can also be used on porcelain. But some of them leave a high relief, you should be aware of this.
  • Stencils. Sets of stencils for painting on dishes are sold in craft stores. This is a convenient drawing technique. They have an adhesive surface (like stickers) and are convenient to use. But you can make stencils yourself (from thick paper, thick cellophane or thin plastic).

Ideas for painting

The simplest geometric pattern

  • Inscriptions. The easiest design is to simply write some kind of inscription on a plate or cup. If you are planning a family celebration, you can write on the plates the names of those gathered and even a short message to them (“Happy New Year!”, “Happy Holidays!”). Technique for painting dishes at home using a marker (pen)

  • Before you start painting, you should degrease the surface of the cup or plate; this can be easily done with alcohol. While painting, you should hold the object so as not to grab it with your fingers (even clean hands contain sebum).
  • If a mistake is made, everything can be corrected. A pen or felt-tip pen can be easily washed with a napkin and water.
  • The mug or plate should be left to cool in the oven. You can take it out when the oven has completely cooled down.
  • Scratching method

    • Painting can be done in several layers. Each layer is baked. However, you should be careful, because a large number of bakes leads to fading of the first layers. Therefore, you should aim for a maximum of 2-3 layers.
    • A professional approach to painting is to use the background, that is, the surface of the dish itself, rather than painting the entire product. It doesn't matter what color the background is, but it should work.
    • There is such a technique - “scratching”. First, the plate or cup is painted over with a fantasy background, then the paints are dried (but not baked). Then you need to take a toothpick or a needle (knitting needle) and scratch the paint layer. You will get an interesting white graphic effect.
    • If you are planning multi-color painting in several layers, you should start with the lightest shade.
