Steampunk style in the interior: description and photo examples. Interior in the steampunk style: design features, interesting ideas and recommendations Design in the steampunk style

Modernity sets new rules for arranging residential spaces, which reflect the desire for manufacturability, practicality and functionality. At the same time, long-gone eras continue to serve as sources of inspiration for designers. Thus, the industrialism of the times of Jules Verne became the basis for the interior in the steampunk style, preserving a place for the current principles of interior design.

Main features of the style

It is difficult to find a direction more distant from the living space than steampunk. It is based on the aestheticism of steam engines, gears and mechanisms, but not on comfortable furniture and ergonomic accessories. Nevertheless, it is the beauty of the technical means that attracts connoisseurs of this genre. Therefore, the main feature of style can be called the visual effect. But we should also not forget that the same machines work for the benefit of humans. Therefore, functionality and utilitarianism of the environment are also included in the list of steampunk features.

The style in old England was also focused on the pomp of textured elements. Beautiful fabrics, original surface finishing and expensive items - all this will complement the design favorably, but only if it is visually consistent with the era. What will you have to give up when following this direction in home improvement? Perhaps, shades of minimalism and naturalness will be superfluous. Naturalness is not a characteristic close to steampunk. His spirit is expressed in man-made, and nature fades into the background.

Color palette

Color has a special place in this style, with designers having to find subtle loopholes between neutrality and contrast. Calm tones hardly correspond to the vigorous activity of factories and factories. But bright shades will not have any meaning in this context. Therefore, preference is given to brown, gray and blue flowers. And again, do not forget about parallel life in luxurious halls and salons, where noble and rich colors predominated - it will also favorably emphasize the steampunk style in the interior. The description of the most advantageous color design in this vein can be presented as follows: emerald, wine and golden surfaces with velvet fabrics and the reflection of metal structures. Such a connection will provide an unusual, but quite suitable visual effect for steampunk.

Decoration Materials

Although natural materials hinting at eco-style will seem superfluous in this direction, traces of them careful processing will correct the situation. You can use wood, stone, glass and metals in wall decoration. The main thing is that the decorative surface creates an atmosphere of understatement and unreality. This feeling can be provided by a wooden floor laid with massive logs or aged boards. Metal sheathing would also be a worthy option, and the fixing hardware should be deliberately left visible. It is advisable to use large rivets for this purpose, reminiscent of the casing of a submarine or a large steam boiler. Matches the interior and is once fashionable today brick walls. This is not the best solution in terms of practicality, but aesthetically it will be a win-win. On the other hand, it is not recommended to use cheap and strictly formatted materials for finishing in the form plastic panels or wallpaper.

Furniture furnishings

The Victorian era interior is famous for its luxurious armchairs, sofas and stately bookcases. Moreover, the emphasis is on the external design. Nowadays, this can be exquisite ornate carvings, patterns on leather upholstery, metal overlays and decorative elements made from expensive fabrics. It is better to refuse built-in and modular headsets. Each piece of furniture in the steampunk style is distinguished by its originality - it should be a piece of art, made by the hands of a master. As for the main materials, the structures can be made of wood or metal - bronze, copper or brass. You shouldn’t completely abandon collapsible furniture, but in this case it will be necessary to emphasize the mechanics of the item.

What should the lighting be like?

Streams of light that will transform a slightly gloomy and gloomy interior must have a special character. It is desirable that they also show a hint of industrialism, the time of transition to new technologies. But this does not mean that you need to use popular LED lamps. Their smooth artificial light It will hardly fit the situation. Preference should be given to either traditional incandescent lamps or gas-discharge devices, the operation of which is accompanied by humming and flickering. These are optimal effects for a steampunk interior. If possible, the design of lampshades and lampshades should be selected specifically for the Victorian era. Otherwise, you should turn to massive lamp designs, also made using metal. It is advisable to abandon plastic cases.

Requirements for household appliances

Not every style involves the use, for example, of kitchen appliances and devices as an independent interior object. At a minimum, household appliances are given a neutral role. In this case, the situation is the opposite. The modern generation of home appliances with to varying degrees, but comes from machines and units of the era of industrialism. Another thing is that the operating principles and characteristics of materials have changed significantly. But the external design of household appliances may well emphasize the interior in the steampunk style, regardless of its purpose. You can style any object - from a hob to a TV with a computer. For example, hulls washing machine or a refrigerator should initially be chosen with gray or brown color scheme. Imitation of wood structure also fits into this genre.

Decorative elements

Accessories are the easiest and most fun way to create an authentic steampunk atmosphere. To search for original decorative elements with a touch of antiquity, you can go to the flea market. It is also worth using your own stylized photographs to decorate your living room or bedroom. A separate topic is small devices and mechanisms that can perform their main functions, in addition to interior design in the steampunk style. Decor of this type can be represented by barometers, compasses, clocks, telephones, etc. It is recommended to decorate the walls with large maps, paintings by artists of the 19th century, as well as illustrations to novels of the same time.

Installations and designs for the interior

For a more complete approach to industrialism, it would not be amiss to decorate the house with large-scale installations. In essence, this is the same decor, but of a different caliber - of course, it creates a completely different quality of the steampunk style in the interior. Examples of such installations could be:

  • A panel on which plumbing tools, pipes, valves, taps and other elements that previously had a specific functional purpose are placed.
  • A basement with deliberately exposed utility lines on the ceiling. This option is suitable if the room will be used frequently (for example, as a home theater). The same plumbing pipes will create a special atmosphere, and it will be complemented by an open brickwork in the walls.
  • The installation does not have to be devoid of functionality. For example, in the bathroom you can completely stylize the communications - the same pipes with valves, the washbasin and the bath itself. The main thing is to choose the right metal (cast iron, copper or brass), abandon the abundance of plastic and finish the walls and ceiling in a similar style.

Conclusion

It is not easy to implement this direction of interior design, but if successful, the effect will be truly original. This is a very bright and expressive genre, in which many will recognize the fascinating atmosphere of works of art of the 19th century. But how practical and convenient is it? Everyday life maybe a steampunk interior? Who is it actually suitable for? Of course, anyone who doesn't like the Victorian era is unlikely to invest in transforming their home by such means. And connoisseurs of this style will have to sacrifice little. This is a flexible direction and almost any task of ensuring comfort and functionality can be combined with the requirements for a visual and decorative background. Another thing is that technical implementation Some ideas may require significant physical and financial costs.

Steampunk is a mix of modern and futuristic details and ornate Victorian elements. This style is most accurately defined by the phrase “the future from the past.” And this is all you need to know about steampunk, because there are no special rules that need to be followed, and the flight of fancy is not limited in any way.

Steampunk in the interior - a mix of old and new

Originating as a literary movement in the 1980s, steampunk has evolved over time into its own style, primarily related to fashion, but also used in interior design. Steampunk is especially suitable for the interiors of bars and modern cafes. Dim lighting, mystical atmosphere... Thrilling sensations even with a cup of coffee. And recently, even apartments have begun to be decorated in steampunk style.

An individual approach to steampunk design

When you set out to create a steampunk interior, try to imagine yourself in the shoes of people from the early twentieth century. Surely you have a rough idea of what the interior decoration of houses in the Victorian era looked like. Now try to imagine how people who lived a century ago saw the future. What would things that had not yet been invented look like to them? What would a computer look like if it existed by then? Combine these fantasies with furniture from the 19th and 20th centuries, and the beginning of steampunk design has already been laid!

You can create steampunk furniture with your own hands, only slightly changing the existing one

Steampunk style does not accept things modern look. Furniture, accessories and even gadgets and Appliances such as computers, stoves and ovens must certainly have a “retro” tint. A computer, for example, may have a keyboard that resembles a typewriter. A vintage frame will work for the monitor, and you can use an old gas stove instead of a modern stove.

Industrial accents

Like many other styles, steampunk manifests itself in the little things. This means that equipping the premises does not require large expenses. Gears that can be hung on walls instead of paintings or floor lamps on a “leg” made of metal pipe create the desired atmosphere. By the way, in the bathroom, do not hide the pipes behind the walls, take them outside. Steampunk at its brightest.

Materials and colors

In this style there is a certain list of “must have” materials: brass, leather, wood - materials typical of the beginning of the twentieth century. They evoke a slight nostalgia for times gone by, which is the goal of steampunk design. As for colors, they are very characteristic of this unusual design natural shades - beige, brown, and black. But bright “futuristic” accents will also find their application in a steampunk interior.

Living room in steampunk style

A steampunk interior does not always require deliberate, eye-catching accessories. If you are leaning towards a more restrained design, an example would be the living room design in the photo above. Individual small elements can create the same mood as lush decorations. Metal stand floor lamp, furniture on wheels, rusty deposits on the stairs industrial look, and the air is filled with the romance of English factories from the era of Queen Victoria.

Steampunk in the bathroom

If you decide to decorate your apartment in the steampunk style, of course, you cannot limit yourself to just one room. The same applies to the bathroom with toilet. However, there is no need to think long here: exposed brass pipes and a metal sink will create the right atmosphere. A marble countertop will add elegance and take care of the vintage feel that goes so well with an industrial accent.

Modern bedroom

This unusual bedroom differs, among other things, in its light design in steampunk style. Retro details are complemented by a gear wall decoration, an old battery and wooden doors in shabby chic style. Unplastered brickwork along with a gyro-shaped chandelier highlight the steampunk design of the room.

Accessories from a submarine

The details, as if taken from an old ship or submarine, fit our style perfectly. Decorative valves, portholes and propellers can also add pops of color to your interior - just paint them your favorite colour. In addition, the lighting can create any color scheme you like.

Gears on the wall

We have already talked about gears: they are an ideal accessory for a steampunk interior. The combination of gears of different sizes overlapping each other, like in an old mechanism, looks especially good. Can't find gears to decorate your wall with? No problem, you can stick to wallpaper or wall art. This will give the interior even more nostalgia.

Gray kitchen in steampunk style

You can imitate not only gears, but also metal. Moreover, this is true not only for the kitchen with the interesting retro refrigerator that you see in the photo, but also for any other piece of furniture. A few rivets and a metallic gray color really work wonders! Don't forget about the appropriate accessories - a vintage faucet, for example.

Victorian and industrial

By the way, any kitchen in the Landhouse style can be easily filled with a steampunk atmosphere. Vintage household appliances, metal chairs, brass elements, and you are already close to your ideal!

Crazy design

The number of accessories used in the design of the room depends solely on your taste preferences, as well as the size of the available space. However, don't overdo it. There can be a lot of details in the steampunk style, but they still need to be skillfully distributed. The result will be crazy, but still full of style.

Ideas for a steampunk bathroom and toilet

The bathroom is ideal for using a lot of metal elements in its equipment. However, please note that only stainless metal can be used, otherwise high humidity can destroy all efforts. The metal surface on the walls can be imitated with appropriate tiles, as in the photo above. While looking a little rusty, it reflects light like real metal and looks very authentic.

Pendant lamps and “Ilyich bulbs”

In any style, lighting plays an important role. The ideal atmosphere in steampunk design is created by “Ilyich bulbs”, emitting warm light. They can be screwed into pendant lamps, create tube lamps or make your own industrial-style lampshades.

Lanterns

Another great idea is lanterns that create subdued, diffused lighting. Hang them in a row, for example, over a kitchen island, dining table or a bar counter. Here's another tip: the dark surface of the lamps goes well with brown leather.

Steampunk office interior

Antique desks not only look beautiful, but are often more comfortable than modern ones. Add metal shelving and matching wall hangings. Rusty corrugated sheet steel replaces rough-plaster brick walls to create a stunning accent wall. Large gears can simply be hung on the wall, or you can make a clock out of them.

Unusual dining table

A similar table, having at the base a certain metal structure, can be made to order. Old engines are ideal for this purpose. And so that the mechanism is clearly visible, a glass tabletop is placed on top. Cool metallic tones are softened by brown leather chairs, dark wood shelving and plenty of books.

Computer in steampunk style

Modern technology doesn't quite fit with the atmosphere we're trying to recreate with steampunk, so it needs some changes. In the photo you see an interesting idea for a computer. Monitors are inserted into frames, speakers are mounted into gramophone horns, and the keyboard resembles the keys of a typewriter. And all this is not on the desk, but inside a small organ.

). Some of them are quite difficult to implement due to the high requirements for the materials used, while others are due to numerous regulations and the high cost of accessories.

Many styles have already become firmly established in our lives, and their elements can be seen in many apartment interiors; other styles are rare, because they are not suitable for all apartments and are liked by only a few owners.

Steampunk in the interior occurs infrequently. This is explained not only by the fact that creating such an interior requires a lot of time and money, but also by the fact that not every apartment owner will risk transforming their home so much. The originality and originality of the steampunk style is beyond doubt.

Who will like steampunk style in the interior?

This style is most suitable for science fiction fans fascinated by Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. The steampunk style appeared precisely thanks to literary works that became quite widespread.

In addition to literature fans, such an interior will also appeal to creative people those who prefer original room decor. It is worth noting that this style is popular among bright individuals with a rich imagination, who like life in a completely different world, different from the real one.

Characteristic features of steampunk style in the interior

It’s not difficult to recognize this style thanks to the unique combination of seemingly completely inappropriate elements. The mixture of traditional Victorian furniture and various unusual mechanisms is the most striking feature of simpunk. The fact is that this style reflects a different world, born of the minds of various writers. In that world, the leading role belongs to steam engine, which became the basis of progress. Large and small mechanisms, gears and levers - all these details appear in the interior precisely because they are characteristic of steam engines.

A large number of different pipes is also characteristic of the steampunk style. Designers not only beautifully play with the heating and water supply system, which they try to hide in ordinary interiors, but also place additional pipes that play a decorative role.

Particular attention should be paid to various aircraft (airships and hot air balloons), images of which are often found in steampunk interiors. These can be either graphic images or small copies of real devices. Images of airships are also inspired by relevant literature and are found quite often.

Characteristic colors often found in steampunk interiors are traditionally all colors, as well as copper, bronze and black.

Materials used in interior decoration should be as natural as possible. Glass, stone, metal and wood - these are the elements that will help you realistically decorate your interior in this style. You can use various analogues, but only those that well convey the texture and color of the natural material.

Steampunk in the kitchen interior

It is in the design of kitchens that designers often resort to the steampunk style. The exquisite combination of noble red and black colors creates a strict and at the same time original interior. Bronze and copper colors complement this color scheme. The use of copper (the material itself) is also very characteristic of this style.

If such colors seem too gloomy to you, then you can make the design in a more eye-pleasing “light” version. Kitchen furniture can be brown or light brown. Do not forget that at least the facades must be made of wood (or a good imitation of it).

Steampunk in the bathroom interior

A bathroom made in this style will undoubtedly surprise anyone. Often, to decorate this room, additional decorative pipes and levers are used, entangling the room in a network. Some designers refuse furniture (bedside tables and cabinets in the bathroom) and create their imitation (while preserving functionality) from copper tubes. Copper is also often used as a sink in combination with some “noble” material. Special attention deserve taps that look like they came into the interior from the 19th century.

If you want to create a steampunk style bathroom, then use tiles with a themed pattern. Images of airships and balloons will fill the room with the mood you need.

Steampunk in the living room interior

This style is also great for decorating living rooms. Warm light brown or yellow shades will create a feeling of coziness, while heavy wooden furniture will help guests stay comfortably. Upholstered furniture with leather upholstery will look best in such an interior, but textiles can also be used. Remember that the furniture should be reminiscent of Victorian England, look massive and at the same time stylish. Modern multifunctional furniture will not fit into such an interior. You should also pay attention to modern technology. There are special stylized models of TVs and laptops, but they are quite expensive.

You can “introduce” a TV into the living room interior yourself by making, for example, a frame of copper pipes around its perimeter. This design will help you maintain the integrity of the interior.

Many designers place fireplaces in such living rooms that look like a steam boiler. This element is only suitable for large rooms, but you can always make an imitation of a fireplace or even use a graphic image of it.

Where do the interior details and accessories in the steampunk style come from?

The main problem faced by apartment owners who decide to create a steampunk interior is the lack of ready-made accessories and decorative elements.

You have to look for them in various stores (from handicraft stores to construction stores), in markets among junk dealers and through advertisements on the Internet. Many decorative elements are created with your own hands from things that have already become obsolete.

Interior in steampunk style - photo

Steampunk is a relatively new trend and completely unique!

On the one hand, it refers to the Victorian era and the industrial revolution, on the other hand, it is associated with the fairy-tale aesthetics we know from science fiction films. It is also called Victorian Science Fiction! How to create a steampunk style in the interior with your own hands, photos of room design, tips on how to choose furniture, accessories, lighting - about this we'll talk in the article.

What is Steampunk style?

The name of this peculiar style arose from a combination of two English words"steam", or steam, which to this day is a symbol of nineteenth-century inventions, and "punk" - this tendency refers to rebellion, rebellion and the breaking of normal patterns. This is what steampunk is - on the one hand, Victorian elegance is visible in it, on the other, it surprises with a punk flavor and an unobvious choice of accents, straight from the dark mechanized world. This style is mysterious and a little mystical.

Steampunk, also known as Victorian Science Fiction, was originally a science fiction trend stylistically dating back to the Victorian era and the Industrial Revolution. It created a dark industrial vision of the past, inventions that never came to be. In literature, authors often referred to the works of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells or Arthur Conan Doyle. The trend has also settled in other areas of culture - cinema, comics, fashion, computer games. We will find there a combination of Victorian darkness with industrial elegance and nineteenth-century machines. Interior architects also take inspiration from this aesthetic.

In this interior you can find:

It's a bit industrial here, but the urban chic definitely gives way to Victorian and vintage elements. These interiors are romantic, kept in a relatively dark color palette.

Among the characteristic colors, the following can be particularly highlighted:

What furniture to choose?

When it comes to furniture, the main role should be given to wood. Due to the fact that the style prefers dark shades, you can choose exotic breeds:

Leather chairs and sofas are also very popular - preferably quilted, with comfortable armrests. Chesterfield style furniture will look great here!

In addition, you can take a chance and introduce typical loft furniture:

Selection of materials – opposites attract

An original interior will be created by combining durable and delicate materials, such as leather with delicate fabrics, lace and silk. The next combination is a combination of Victorian patterns (like a floral sofa cover) and gilding with elements from the lofts - a tangle of pipes, glass and concrete visible on the wall.

We create the interior with our own hands - connecting the past with the future

In addition to classic, elegant furniture, don't be afraid to experiment. You can safely decorate your interior design in the steampunk style with your own hands, using items from your grandmother’s attic. The bottom of an old sewing machine turned into a table? Good idea!

Chair made from sheet metal and finished with rivets? Great! After all, steampunk is a romance of singing the past with a bold vision of the future. Interiors should look as if they were designed by nineteenth-century visionaries, thinking about how the world would change over the centuries.

Fashionable mechanisms

This style rejects intrusive electronics, but loves everything related to mechanics. Important elements The gears that should appear in these challenging interiors are the gears – the older the better! Where to get them - you should go to a flea market or look at antique dealers, in old workshops. You can also find a designer who will make these types of jewelry.

These could be elements such as a candlestick, mirror frame or lamp. In addition, the following steampunk style interior items are welcome:

Accents with soul

In addition to “mechanized” jewelry, it is worth choosing antique, antique items with soul. It can be:

Often it is the additions that create a unique atmosphere. Here the key combines the richness of Victorian style with elements relating to the development of science and technology. You need to take the time to find trinkets from the 19th century (original or stylized). Stylish wall decoration will be represented by yellowed black and white photographs, old maps, herbariums with a frame or sketches of biology lessons. An unusual addition would also be old clocks and their mechanisms, barometers, telescopes or old typewriters - these are the hallmarks of this style.

A steampunk room should look a little like the films about the adventures of Sherlock Holmes! This way, all models, plans or miniatures of airships will work here. Steampunk is not only a sophisticated retro aesthetic in modern interiors, but also a meeting of old mechanics with modern technologies. Contrary to appearance, this combination will work in any interior, both in men's and women's bedrooms, so it is enough to distribute the additives correctly. This is a great offer for lovers of history, romance and eclecticism.

Red, rusty and black walls

What wallpaper is suitable for steampunk? The best of them are decorated with rich decorations.

You can also look for very interesting steampunk wallpapers with characteristic decor, for example:

The basis is a combination of contrasts in the choice of colors and materials. A characteristic and very effective combination is the duet of black with red and metal (steel or copper). It can be achieved by matching black leather sofas or a Chesterfield chair with a rusty red or copper color on the accessories or on the wall.

In the latter case, we can achieve a distinctive effect by decorating a wall or architectural element such as baseboards or a fireplace with copper, rust. There are many original solutions to choose from - wallpaper, photo wallpaper and special decorative paints. Wall with a metallic sheen in a dark shade or color precious stones is an increasingly popular decor trend that we achieve using acrylic paints with metal pigments. Victorian style is also great for original decoration walls with velvet effect. We can also choose an industrial style - concrete, brick or paint, in which we get a rust effect.

An attractive wall decoration can be balanced with white and dark colors: brown, sepia, cream, dark blue and dark green. Let's choose one strong accent color and fill it with a palette of neutrals.

Original laboratory

Interestingly, steampunk loves “laboratory” elements. Therefore, you can safely invite the following items into the interior:

It’s great that one of the popular restaurants decorated in this style used chairs that resemble a dentist’s patient’s chair for some flavor! Thus, to further emphasize the laboratory aesthetics, it is worth looking for decorations such as:

  • glass elements in the form of test tubes;
  • flasks;
  • droppers;
  • jars.

An interesting decoration can be black and white engravings of fauna and flora, reminiscent of illustrations from nineteenth-century encyclopedias.

Lighting

This style loves lamps! Ideally, these are steampunk lamps, built from bare, vintage-style designer light bulbs.

You can also use table lamps decorated with gears, screws, tracks and other elements from a machine shop. A great idea that always works in these interiors is oil lamps. They can be a capricious addition to classic lighting - instead of ordinary candles or recently fashionable lanterns.

Original finishing elements

When arranging your interior, it is important to use every industrial detail you can find. Original technical elements are his favorite decoration! It can be:

  • damp, brick or concrete walls;
  • steel beams and columns;
  • technical boxes;
  • antique stoves;
  • pipe fragments;
  • cables

The more such accents, the more authentic the design will be.

Punk style elements

There will be more "punk" elements than "steam" elements here. To add more punk, you need to choose furniture and accessories “with pepper”. It can be:

Such elements are closer to modern trend, which in this interior should naturally intertwine with the elegant and rather dark Victorian design.

An intriguing combination of Victorian elegance with industrial austerity and symbols of the Industrial Revolution. The stylistic trend called steampunk can be successfully used in interior design. This is an offer for lovers of eclecticism, retro and Sherlock Holmes.

Steampunk is truly an amazing style! And although not everyone will like this type of aesthetic, everyone should learn about it - even out of curiosity. Production designer Roger Morgan once said that steampunk is “the dream of the past about the future.” Doesn't such a dream apply to all of us - who can imagine what our reality will look like in a hundred years?

We continue to tell you about such an unusual interior style as steampunk. First part of the article: . In it, we looked at how to create the basis for a style - finishes, colors and lighting. Furniture and decorative elements truly reveal this style, and we will talk about them.

Furniture

The furniture shows a close connection between the Victorian style and steampunk. All chairs, armchairs and sofas will be reminiscent of that era. The most classic would be brown leather upholstered furniture with brass or bronze details.

Another variant upholstered furniture for steampunk reflects its futuristic part. A chair with metal upholstery will fit perfectly.

The rest of the furniture follows the same principle - wood and antique or brutal metal. Often cabinets are turned into strange steam engines, decorated with valves and gears. And for books the best place- shelf made of water pipes.

To implement steampunk in the kitchen, cabinets are often made to look like ovens or fireboxes of a steam locomotive. Stylized the best choice for such an interior.

Decor

In steampunk, even the usual equipment, which you cannot do without, will become decor. Computers, televisions and household appliances, stylized as mechanisms, are a feature of this style.

Many people associate steampunk with nuts, gears and other parts. And, indeed, this is one of the most striking symbols of style. In decoration, gears can be used as part of clocks, lamps and other functional items, or simply as an art object.

Antique mechanisms, such as barometers, gauges with dials and hands, and typewriters, would be appropriate to display.

Pipes can not only serve as shelves, but can also be used to decorate a room in all sorts of ways. Valves, pistons - right there. The main thing is that everything is made of copper, brass, or metal artificially aged with bitumen varnish or patina.

Steampunk takes us back to an era when traveling on long distances are just becoming possible. Therefore, globes and antique geographic Maps. In many of the images you will see hats of a characteristic style - also a detail of that time.

Models of steam locomotives, airships and submarines are an excellent addition to the decor. Sometimes things go beyond the scale of the model: this is illustrated by the airship apartment in New York.

Since submarines play a big role in steampunk, it is not surprising that octopuses and huge fish often decorate these interiors. Three Rings Design created an original, ironic interpretation of steampunk for its office in San Francisco. A huge sofa in the shape of an octopus and numerous references to this sea monster became the highlight of the decision.
